We cannot make a top 10 hotels in Mauritius. Top 10 means nothing as it is related to which criteria ? Size of the rooms ? Buttler service ? SPA avaibility ? Cleanliness ? ... what about the friendliness of the staff ? the avaibility of the front office ? I am not sure that a family will enjoy Oberoi ( ranked no.2 ) - the kids club is small, closed early, not up to a 5-star hotel .... Taj Exotic ( now no more Taj but Maradiva ) ( ranked no 8 ) - the beach is horrible ...if you come for the beach you should not go to Taj. What about the following :

Four Seasons
Le Trou aux Biches Hotel
Beau Rivage
Shandrani Hotel
Shanti Ananda hotel

The Residence at Belle Mare is sensational. There is an air of calm elegance there that is so relaxing and enjoyable, and actually made me feel calm and elegant myself! The staff are utterly charming, and all new guests are invited to a cocktail party with senior staff, who make of point of welcoming everyone individually.

Restaurant choices are universally excellent, with some of the best food I have had anywhere, including my home city of London.

Highly, highly recommended.
