Brobdingnagian cruise ship

BrobdingnagianMega Crown International Cruise Lines, LLP have surprised the cruise industry with the launch of the first of a new fleet of Extreme-Ultra-Mega cruise ships. Much to the amazement of others, their new ship, called Brobdingnagian,  has been  built in secret over the past six years at the Yatzmar Shipyards hidden deep within Kyrgyzstan. The vessel includes an ice skating rink, an arena football stadium and a par-72, 18 hole golf course and will carry a crew of 3,480, with  a capacity for 17,650 passengers. The news comes  soon after  Royal Caribbean revealed their  order for a ship which they claimed would be double the size of most existing cruise ships.

  1. Having just tracked down where Kyrgyzstan is, I can see how they managed to keep it secret since it’s partly between China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan (not places noted for their shipbuilding). Just one thing however – according to the CIA World Factbook, lists it as:

    Coastline: 0 km (landlocked)
    Maritime claims: none (landlocked)

Is it just me, or has someone perhaps gone a little too far with this concept of secrecy? Maybe build one on the moon next?

  2. It also does beg the question of what happens when a ship this size starts to sink, or even gets hit by a freak wave on the side. Wouldn’t want to be in charge of the lifeboats!

  3. False alarm… I have strong suspicions that the original story – found on travelfox.com – is entirely bogus! When you think about it, how ridiculous is it to build such a huge ship in a landlocked country?!!! Also, look at the picture carefully and you can see it’s been Photoshopped… notice some regular patterning? Sorry, folks… I think we’ve been tricked!!
