Mont Saint-Michel to regain island status

Category: Attractions, Europe, France, Going Out, Regions, Western Europe — Paul Johnson @ 9:39 am

Mont Saint-MichelIt must be 20 years or more since I last visited Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy, France, so I was interested to learn from an article on the BBC website that the build-up of silt was resulting in a loss of the landmark’s identiy as an island. A five year project costing an estimated 150 million euros will see the construction of a dam to get water flowing around the Benedictine abbey once more.
