One of the last privately-owned lakes in Austria is up for sale. Occupying a secluded location in the Salzkammergut region near Salzburg, the Mondsee or Moon Lake is being sold by Nicolette Waechter; it has been in her family since the early 18th Century but now she no longer wants to be responsible for its management. Nicolette Waechter’s Mondsee (or Moon Lake) sounds like it’s a very nice place & what a wonderful historical treasure for anyone who had the opportunity purchase it.
I have a close friend who lives in Austria & I’m quite fond of the people I’ve met from there. This place has a winning combination, of location, culture, history, the beauty of the great outdoors, unspoiled land and good people! I would feel blessed to be able to own such a place. I hope who ever bought it will be a good steward over Mondsee.
