In an hour or so, I’ll be heading into Newcastle-upon-Tyne to participate in the Great North Run, the biggest half marathon in the world, with approximately 49,999 other runners. The route covers 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields. This will be my 10th GNR on the trot and, given my lack of training, a trot it will be! Just don’t expect any further blog posts for the rest of the day as I shall need the time to recover.

Today I shall be running a half marathon, not the blog

It’s back to blogging now… (I finished the race in 2h 01m 45s).

Hi Paul,
Congratulations on the half and time. A PB? My experience is limited to the Hastings Half, highly recommend it if you’re looking for other locations.
Cheers

Thanks, Dominic.
Sadly, not a PB, no. In my much fitter, younger days, I completed a 14.6 mile run in 1h 41m, so I must have passed the half marathon mark at just over 1h 30m that day. I was training (very obsessively!) for the London Marathon at the time.
