Hire a private Louvre guide

As anyone who’s been to Paris’ La Louvre will testify, you could easily spend a whole day there.   So why not call on the services of a guide to help you through the maze?   Paris Muse offers such a service, with tours led by native English-speaking art historians.   You can choose from tours aimed at first-timers, youngsters and even Da Vinci Code fans.   Tour prices start from $130.

  1. Hmm, wonder who this is aimed at. For that price you’d have to really love art, in which case presumably you wouldn’t need a tour because you’d probably research the main pieces beforehand? I’m not sure a casual visitor would pay that much for it.

  2. What a great idea – i always feel you never have enough time to see everything at the louvre and it would be handy to have an insider giving you the personal tour.

  3. This is a splendid idea. I think you could really spend an entire weekend at the Louvre. I would like a guide who could help me hit the high points.

  4. I love galleries but when I visited The Louvres it was so busy I soon became fed up and didn’t end up staying long. I wish I’d taken a guide I really think you get more out of it when you do, I will be going back and spending more time there! I’ve done a few tours recently where you are given your own radio, it’s not quite the same as you end up walking round in silence and they don’t bring it life like a guide does, well worth the money.
