Kendal, Hope you and your parents will enjoy Doyles. If you fancy a fab brunch in Sydney I can throughly recommend Bills. He has 3 outposts in the city and they are owned by the TV chef Bill Granger. At the weekends they can get quite busy as they are a real Sydney institution. Some of the best scrambled eggs, sweetcorn fritters or ricotta hotcakes. Well worth a visit and a great start to a sydney day!

Kendal The sydney Ferries operate from Circular Quay right in the heart of the harbour to various destinations and have some of the best views of the Harbour Bridge, opera house, surrounding bays and neighbourhoods. You should tell them to take a ferry to watsons bay and visit Doyles on the beach a fabulous seafood restaurant – one of the best in sydney – right on the beach makes for the perfect lunch or dinner and can’t recommend highly enough. check their website out http://www.doyles.com.au

I’m with you irene. Nothing beats the staten island ferry. It is so beautiful and a very intimate way to see new york! I have never been on the Sydney ferry, but my parents are headed there in October so I will highly recommend that to them! What is so amazing about it? Thanks for the tip.

I agree Kendal Hong Kong has a lot of pollution like many of the world’s big cities but i suppose things have to start somewhere. they could also promote it as a walking city as it is fairly compact if not a little bit crowded!

Whatever it is a fabulous place to visit and the star ferry is probably one of the best ferry rides in the world – although i do also have a soft sport for some of the sydney ferry rides and of course the staten island ferry in new york!

The title of this thread just gets me. Often I look out my hotel room in Hong Kong, and can’t see due to the pollution. While this is a very nice promotion, the title was just too ironic to pass up. I guess if everyone does their part…

This is the first I’ve heard of World Environment Day, which is held every year on 5 June. I’d have thought that such a major event, promoted by such a major organisation as the UN, might have been better publicised.

They have some good tips on their site for greener every day living. Some of the tips are a bit odd, though: “When you are feeling at your laziest, don’t throw clean clothes in the hamper to avoid hanging them up!”
