Bruges Ice FestivalBruges Ice Festival is just an hour’s train ride from Brussels and this year’s Ice Age theme means ice sculptors have been busy creating sabre-toothed tigers and nut-gathering rodents in this beautiful village complete with pub and funfair.  The display will remain open until 10th January 2010.

    1. This festival is definitely worth a visit. Bruges also boasts a lovely Christmas fair and is a great destination for a short mid winter break.

    3. We went to Bruges but got an amazing deal and went for the day with some friends so I can’t recommend anywhere to stay. You can take a boat ride which is worth doing. We just really enjoyed wandering the streets, looking at the buildings and popping in the shops. It’s so quaint it almost doesn’t seem real it’s lovely.
