The 6 best luxury hotels in England

Looking to blow half your salary on a few nights in one of the most luxurious hotels in England? We all need a vacation every once in a while, and if you’ve got the money to spend big, you just might be the next client for one of these extraordinary accommodations. If you want a place that’s sure to provide total luxury, anywhere near London’s beautiful Hyde Park is the place to be. But does this mean there aren’t any other great places to go in England? Not in the slightest. In fact, a number of truly incredible luxury hotels are nestled in the fertile English countryside, and if you’re looking for some peace and quiet, getting out of the city for a while may be the way to go. Listed here are six of the best luxury hotels in all of England. Hartwell House & Spa – near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire Sitting on 90 acres an hour drive outside of London, the Hartwell House is an exquisitely grand stay for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Each of its 30 magnificent rooms are decorated with timeless antiques and paintings to make your nights truly fit for a king. Literally. The Hartwell House was once the residence of the exiled future king of France, Louis XVIII, and his court (though I doubt they had free Wifi), and now guests can spend a few nights in rooms with luxury fit for royalty – only for a small price of £500 per night, of course. The Dorchester – London, England Overlooking the grand and expansive Hyde Park, The Dorchester Hotel has been a hotspot for the rich and famous since its opening in 1931. Michael Jackson used to frequent its extravagant Oliver Messel Suite at a whopping £2,950 per night, while former World War II general and US President Dwight Eisenhower spent his wartime stay in London with luxury in the lavish (and super safe) “Eisenhower Suite.” Other famous historic and pop-culture icons who have stayed in one of the Dorchester’s 250 rooms and 49 suites include Winston Churchill, T.S. Eliot, The Beatles, and, of course, Lady Gaga. Mandarin Oriental – London, England Ever have a hotel room that was actually supposed to have enough space to entertain 40 guests? Didn’t think so. However, if you’re looking to throw down £5,300 for a night in Mandarin Oriental’s Royal Suite in London, then you might just have that chance. The suite, with three bedrooms and a balcony with unparalleled views of Hyde Park, has a private dining room for up to eight guests, a full service kitchen with a separate entrance for service staff, complimentary beverages of all sorts, and a steam room. Not too shabby. 41 – London, England Named after its address just south of Buckingham Palace lies Hotel 41, with 30 rooms of a posh black and white design scheme that is complemented by a rich mahogany. In 2011, Condé Nast Traveller Magazine’s annual Gold List placed Hotel 41 as one of ‘the best places in the world to stay” so definitely count it as one of the finest places to go in England! This may be due to its incredible service that Travel and Leisure’s annual reader survey named it as one of the top hotels for ‘World’s Best Service.’ Or, rather, it may be due to its extraordinary rooms, like the £900 per night Royal Suite, a split level master suite with a glass ceiling that allows its guests to stargaze from the comfort of their own bed. The Langham – London, England At 236 square meters and roughly £5,000 per night, the Langham’s Infinity Suite puts most other luxury hotels to shame. This decadent room boasts numerous flat screen TVs, 24-hour butler service, various specially-commissioned pieces of contemporary art, and most importantly, the chromatherapy bath. Acting more like a spa, the bath’s chromatherapy setting combines hydrotherapy with a full spectrum of color, creating a bathing experience of total luxury and relaxation. The Lanesborough – London, England In terms of price and indulgence, the prize might have to go to this luxury hotel, a former hospital along Hyde Park that was renovated into a hotel and reopened in 1991. Though this hotel is certainly well-known for accommodating various visiting royalty and politicians, The Lanesborough is possibly most recognized for having reputedly the most expensive room in all of London. The Royal Suite has floor to ceiling windows presenting breathtaking views of Buckingham Palace and the Constitutional Arch and offers three bedrooms, a drawing room, a dining area, a study, kitchen, and a personal butler who is on-call 24/7. How deep will you have to dig into your pockets to spend a night in this insanely luxurious suite? Pretty far. Guests like Jim Carrey and Leonardo DiCaprio who are lucky enough to get a reservation pay £8,000 per night. So there you have it, the 6 best luxury hotels in England. If you have the cash for a few nights in a gorgeous hotel, consider spending your time in one of these accommodations. However, if you are like most people and do not necessarily have £8,000 to spend on a night or two of such luxury or want to spend their vacation time in other cities than London, don’t fret. There are certainly lots of incredible places to go in England to spend a weekend. Rick Kirk is the owner of Chester Hotels.
