A little bit of luxury in Cornwall

If you are looking for a little bit of luxury, forget the myth that you need to jet off to distant shores to find it. Right here in Cornwall there are many fabulous luxury spots where you can truly relax in style. And the good news is there are many benefits to this as well – youÂ’ll avoid long check-in queues, reduce your carbon emissions, and save precious pounds, which of course you can then spend on those little extra bits of luxury whilst youÂ’re on holiday! There are many great options for places to stay in Cornwall, with a wide selection tailored for the luxury traveller. From cute little B&Bs perfect for weekend getaways, to beautiful luxury holiday cottages, so lovely you wonÂ’t want to leave! We like the idea of finding a cottage you really like and visiting it again next year to make some truly special holidaying memories, which just get better year after year. When it comes to eating Cornwall is well known for its range of culinary delights, with many fabulous world-class restaurants nestled away in its picturesque villages and towns. We really love Number 6 in Padstow. At Number 6 Michelin starred Chef Paul Ainsworth cooks wonderful local, seasonal food, with a menu that promises simple and stylish modern cuisine with distinct Cornish and British influences. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun and every inch classy, so we recommend heading there for dinner and taking advantage of the amazing wine list too. DonÂ’t forget to have pudding because their take on chocolate ‘cakeÂ’ is to die for! A great spot for a luxury lunch is Tides Restaurant in Rock. The restaurant has stunning views of the Camel Estuary, so is particularly lovely on a clear afternoon. We recommend teaming it up with a walk along the Southwest coast path, so you have worked up a good appetite before you arrive. Tom Cade, who is head chef there, worked at the Ritz before he made the move to Cornwall and the quality of his experience shines through in his food. The menu is based around locally sourced produce and follows the seasons – at the moment the St Endoc asparagus, served with a choice of hollandaise or vinaigrette, canÂ’t be beaten. Try this followed by the Cornish duck served with celeriac cream, pearl barley and baby leeks and you wonÂ’t be disappointed! When you have dined and walked to your heart’s content, we recommend a trip to the Bedruthan Spa at the Bedruthan Steps Hotel near Newquay. ItÂ’s an award-winning spa and you can tell why- they have an exceptional indoor infinity pool, with views out towards the sea, a luxurious cedar sauna and a eucalyptus steam room too. The spa offers a full range of treatments and packages, from massages, to facials, to pedicures, so you can really pamper yourself and relax in the loveliest of settings. When in need of a little decadent delight head to the St. Moritz Hotel, near Rock and treat yourself to cocktails on the terrace. The atmosphere is chic and relaxed and the staff are super friendly too and always happy to go the extra mile to make sure that you are really satisfied. We love the house special cocktail ‘The St MoritzÂ’. And of course you canÂ’t leave Cornwall without having a Cornish cream tea and thereÂ’s nowhere more decadent to do it that Fowey Hall, the inspiration for Toad Hall in The Wind in the Willows. Remember youÂ’re on holiday, so go for the full afternoon tea, which includes home baked scones, lashing of Cornish clotted cream and some scrumptious strawberry jam. Cornwall has no shortage of luxury spots, so make sure you are not missing out this summer and go and see what this fabulous county has to offer. Jill Landeryou is Owner of Latitude 50. 1. I will definitely have to try some of these restaurants. One of my favourite places to eat in Cornwall is at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant at Watergate Bay. Even better if we do some surfing and bodyboarding first as that way I can feel slighlty less guilty about over-eating. of course there is always a good walk around the Bay after eating too!

  2. Great ideas – how about The Tresanton Hotel in St Mawes? Great location for lunch and excellent service!

Take a trip over on the King Harry Ferry – followed up by a tour around St Mawes Castle.

    Great day out.

  3. Tides Restaurant is a superb place to dine. Been there a few times when we have rented a cottage in the area.
