Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem inspires luxury London hotel

Against the backdrop of the leafy ‘villageÂ’ of Ealing in West London and adjacent to the famous Ealing Film Studios, the areaÂ’s first boutique hotel opens this month.  Hotel Xanadu is a rural retreat on the doorstep of LondonÂ’s West End and the inspiration of entrepreneur and interior designer Jalal Al-Yawer. Overlooking Ealing Green, Hotel Xanadu has 46 double rooms, 2 executive suites, a private meeting room and bar and restaurant, serving Asian influenced cuisine, which reflects the many flavours of the Silk Route. Al-Yawer has been fascinated with ColeridgeÂ’s poem ‘Xanadu – Kubla Khan’ since he was a child and hopes to have captured the poemÂ’s essence and transformed it into a property which combines Oriental and exotic elements with modern features and true comfort. Hotel Xanadu is in close proximity to Heathrow and boasts a fast, direct connection to central London via Ealing Underground (Central and District lines) on its doorstep. The interiors of the bedrooms are light and airy, with Asian inspired fabrics and art. The public areas also feature artefacts, sculptures and art from countries along the Silk route. The hotel also brings the Koobla Bar & Restaurant to Ealing, open to both hotel residents and the general public. It is inspired by the Silk Route and represents the unusual cuisine and spices that Marco Polo enjoyed on his 24 year journey through Europe and Asia – each dish has been interpreted by KooblaÂ’s chef for todayÂ’s traveller-in-spirit. The cocktail menu has also been designed to complement the exotic dishes with matching flavours and spices from the Far East to the Mediterranean. Room rates start from £150 for a Double and £200 for an Executive Suite. All rooms are equipped with spacious bathrooms, flat screen satellite TV, direct dial phone, coffee & tea making facilities, hairdryer and free Wi-Fi access. Guests are also invited to hire a complimentary iPad and, for those who want to explore the local area, bicycles are also available.
