Ah a romantic break in London… what better way could there be to enjoy some valuable time with your loved one? Many of us dream of such a getaway, and it isn’t as hard to arrange as you might think. In fact, if you follow a few essential steps you can thrill your special someone by unveiling a romantic getaway to the capital they’ll never forget.
Step 1: book a superb hotel
The number one priority for a stay in London is to find a hotel with a sumptuous room or suite you can book into in advance. We’d recommend hotels in the central Westminster area as not only will they be situated in an attractive part of London, it also provides you with the opportunity to walk to most of the fantastic attractions that London has to offer.
Step 2: make sure there is a mouth watering restaurant nearby
Of course you’ll want to take your loved one to a restaurant on your first night in the city. Many hotels have a bar, grill or restaurant on site or nearby, so bear this in mind when booking. Take a look over our list of top quirky restaurants for some inspiration, or alternatively if you’re feeling extravagant we would recommend booking a table at Petrus in Knightsbridge which serves up award winning French cuisine or The Ledbury in Notting Hill which again offer award winning European food.
Step 3: pre-book some theatre tickets
There are dozens of delightful shows on in the West End. Book tickets for a romantic classic such as Phantom of the Opera and be spellbound by its magic. You can get cheaper tickets if you book on the day, but if you want to see something specific it’s always best to book in advance.
Step 4: plan a romantic stroll through one of London’s finest parks
With several Royal Parks to choose from, it would be foolhardy not to go for a romantic walk at some point. Grab some downtime from the hustle and bustle of the city and head for Green Park or St James’ Park so you can find a tree to relax underneath. Picnic lunches are to be recommended!
Step 5: don’t forget the river!
Where would any romantic weekend in London be without a trip on the River Thames? Boat trips can be booked in advance online, or you can simply turn up and hop on your selection of sightseeing boat trip. They leave from various places and you can opt for anything from a short trip to a much longer one if you wish. Whatever floats your boat!
In short, planning ahead is essential in order to arrange the most romantic trip of all. Think about what your loved one would enjoy and plan the trip accordingly. With their uppermost desires in mind, you cannot go wrong when arranging the perfect trip to the UK’s capital city.
