On 13th-14th November 2012, the Australian state of Queensland enjoyed a rare solar eclipse. A total solar eclipse is when the moon passes directly between the sun and Earth. Here’s some great timelapse footage taken from Palm Cove Beach in North Queensland, along with some eye witness accounts of the experience. The next total solar eclipse will not be until March 2015 – on that occasion it will be visible from some areas in the North Atlantic region, such as Norway’s Svalbard Islands.
