New luxury in the Swiss resort of Verbier

New to the Swiss resort of Verbier is Hotel Cordée des Alpes – a luxurious hotel with innovative interiors, mixing the best of old-school ski and the latest in Swiss chic. Comprising 34 suites and guest rooms and 14 exclusive residences for ownership, Cordée des Alpes marks the latest offering from local hotel and restaurant entrepreneur Marcus Bratter, also responsible for launching Nevaï -VerbierÂ’s first contemporary design hotel, the all-suite KingÂ’s Parc Hotel and après-ski hotspot The Farm Club. Cordée des Alpes will ensure a service that reflects a passion for excellence that has been honed by MarcusÂ’s years of local knowledge. Wooden skis adorn the rustic walls, hand knotted carpets from Nepal frequent the floor spaces, whilst stylish black & white etchings are on display behind reception and throughout the corridors. There are seven different guest room, suite and apartment categories, each providing a cosy and intimate space for post-mountain activity relaxation. And, judging by the photograph, possibly some of the widest hotel beds in the world! (Or is just the camera angle?!) As well as a well-stocked mini-bar, en-suite bath/shower rooms and the indulgent interiors expected in a luxury hotel, rooms feature comprehensive state-of-the-art technology; flat screen televisions and video on demand – providing access to all the latest movies – an iPad communicator that allows guests to explore and benefit from all the hotelÂ’s facilities and services at the touch of its screen, iPod dock and complimentary WiFi. There’s also a spam complete with 15 metre swimming pool, looking out onto the mountaintops, a high-tech gym with Pilates area and authentically Alpine steam and sauna rooms centred around a cold shower with stone bed and foot baths. After a hard day on the mountain, guests can retreat to the spaÂ’s treatment rooms for a myriad of therapies from facials to hot stone massages. The hotel’s restaurant serves a gastronomic menu of local and fresh flavours whilst the stylish bar, with its hearty open fire, will offer freshly made tea and cakes each afternoon and cocktails daily providing a welcoming yet chic space for both cosy days in and après ski. Verbier is just 1.5 and 3 hours from Geneva and Zurich respectively. Alternatively, in the winter months, the nearby  Sion airport (just 45 minutes away) is another option for both charter and private flights.

  1. That does look rather fabulous. Perhaps Verbier is finally getting a place to rival The Lodge, Richard Branson’s indulgent bolt-hole? :-)
