Tragedy at Baker’s Bay Golf and Ocean Club on Great Guana Cay

Reports have been coming in that sadly one person has been killed and four people injured in a helicopter crash incident at the exclusive Baker’s Bay Golf and Ocean Club. The resort is at Guana Cay in the Abacos island chain, about 150 miles off Florida’s eastern coast. The Nassau Guardian reports that the helicopter was buffeted by a gust of wind whilst trying to land. Among the survivors is the billionaire hotel heir and head of the Miami-based Turnberry Associates, Jeffrey Soffer, also known for his past romantic involvement with supermodel Elle Macpherson. Soffer and two others are said to have been flung from the helicopter as its rotor blades hit the ground.
