Encounters with whales in Maui

The Cesere Brothers are accomplished fine art underwater photographers, and in the winters they donate their time to assist the Keiki Kohola Project with up-close whale research. The result is incredible whale footage and increased knowledge about mother whales and calves. For more information, click here for details on whale watching with Four Seasons Resort Maui.

  1. For those interested in timing, we start seeing whales on Maui around November (as early as October, but not frequently) and they stay here to give birth through early April. There are a number of whale watching tours that go out daily, including the ones operated by the Pacific Whale Foundation. The channel between Lanai and Maui is known as one of the best places to see these amazing mammals.
