Photograph of the week: Aerial view of Bora Bora

This aerial shot is a view of Bora Bora in French Polynesia. It was shot from a helicopter with the door taken off during an assignment there for National Geographic Traveler. The reef and the small islands, called motu that surround Bora Bora make for spectacular patterns in the water. James Michener called Bora Bora the world’s most beautiful island, and photographer Bob Krist would be hard-pressed to disagree with him.

Thank you to Bob Krist Photography for permission to re-produce the image.
