The world’s scariest hotel swimming pool?

Here’s a contender for the world’s scariest hotel swimming pool, designed by Singaporean firm Chan Sau Yan Associate. The pool at the Holiday Inn Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao is 30 metres long and can be found on the 24th floor of the hotel, perched high above the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Situated in the booming suburb of Kangqiao, this might at first look like just another hotel swimming pool but do a length and you’ll soon realise that this is no ordinary deep end. The last few metres protrude out of the hotel and swimmers are visible to the passers-by on Xiuyan Lu below. You’ll be pleased to know that the bottom is made of toughened glass.

  1. Not for those who have fear of heights! But this is definitely a must try especially for the dare-devils. :) If there’s a chance I want to go and take some photos too.

  2. Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore tops my list of most scariest swimming pool!It is located on the tops of three high rise buildings, spanning between them then cantilevered out one end. Also claims to be longest pool. One long side is infinity edge.

  3. Yikes, that is definitely interesting. It would certainly leave you feeling like you are flying high over Shanghai!

  4. I think the Nemo 33 pool in Brussels, Belgium is even scarier. I don’t have a fear of heights as much as a fear of depths… Nemo 33 is 113 feet deep!

  5. Waw, this pool is amazing! You must feel very special while doing some laps in this pool… I agree with Lauren though. Me too, I’m more afraid of depths than heights…

  6. Lol- thought the pool was gonna have crocodiles in it or soemthing – but yea, that’s pretty freaky as well.

  7. Ok. Seriously, that is pretty scary. I love heights and adventure, but that scares the pants off me, with it jutting out from the building like that! Yikes! Beautiful view though!

  8. Really, This one is very different from other ordinary swimming pools. Singapore offers a lot to everyone.
Heart beats got faster when you look at the bottom from transparent glass.
