An unlikely new tourism ambassador for Lithuania

Since it looks as though I may be visiting Lithuania for the first time this year, this piece of news caught my eye. Martynas Levickis has been named official Tourism Ambassador for Lithuania following his signing to Universal Music. He is a star in his native Lithuania as a world-champion accordionist and was the 2010 winner of ‘Lithuania’s Got Talent’. He’s a recent graduate from London’s Royal Academy of Music and you can see his amazing talent in action here:

Since Martynas is gaining increasing worldwide appeal (this year he will perform live with his band at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, among other events), it is hoped that he may encourage his fans to consider travelling to Lithuania on holiday. From the bustling and beautiful capital city of Vilnius to the seaside resort of Klaipėda and winter wonderland of Druskininkai, he is looking forward to actively promoting his home country, be it for a short city break for culture and heritage, or for outdoors and spa tourism.
