Photograph of the week: El PeƱol in Colombia

El PeƱol is a monolith located on the outskirts of GuatapĆ©, a small town that lies about 86 km northeast of MedellĆn (Colombia). This giant granite stone rises over 2,000 metres above sea level on its highest point. On one of its sides, there are some stairs that take visitors to the top to admire the impressive views. For the more adventurous souls, there are also some rock climbing routes on some of the faces of the rock. El PeƱol Thank you toĀ Bianca Bauza ofĀ nomadbibaĀ for permission to re-produce the image. 1. Great photo. It’s nice to see some articles on Colombia in this Blog. It’s an up and coming destination and there are some incredible locations and luxury destinations to discover here. Once the bad image has finally been shed, this will become one the top destinations in Latin America.

Medellin in particular is a world class city with perfect weather, beautiful, friendly people and a modern metropolis full of exciting things to see and do. El PeƱol is located just an hour out of the city.
