Perhaps go fishing for the many species of Amazon fish, or explore into the dense jungle on foot in search of three-toed sloths, toucans, macaws then come back to the comfort of our skiffs to meet taricaya turtles in their natural habitat and hunt for endangered pink dolphins, unique to the Amazon. 1. My husband and I went for 7 nights on Aqua’s sister ship Aria by Aqua Expeditions in May 2013. We enjoyed the first 3 nights, but the final 4 nights were nothing but a repeat. The final day was basically no cruising at all, making us truly realize the semi-false advertising.

We highly recommend either the 3 night or 4 night cruise as either may best suit an itinerary. But the 7 night itinerary is a waste of money for almost everyone. The ONLY benefit for us to the last 4 nights was that we finally got to see an Anaconda on our final afternoon cruise.

  2. An Amazon cruise sounds amazing! I think river cruises in general are becoming much more popular and this seems like a great way to visit an area that might not be as accessible normally.

  3. Hi Michael,
Thanks for your interest. During the cruise you can take a day trip to Charo Lake for a fishing expedition. They provide all the tackle and equipment. There are over 3,000 species of tropical fish that live in the Amazon Basin. Guides know all the best tricks to lure piranhas, which is the main catch in the region!
    Hope this helps,
    Daniel Barber.
