4 hotels to stay in Kakheti, Georgia’s largest wine region

Hotel Kabadoni is a beautiful boutique spa hotel located at the end of the beautiful small town of Sighnaghi. At 790 m. above sea level, and facing the Greater Caucasus mountains and Alazani Valley, the view is spectacular. If your room is facing that side, you are in for a big treat with the magnificent views from sunrise until sunset. On the top floor, there is a panoramic terrace were you can spend your time admiring the beauty of the Caucasus mountains. The rooms are elegantly furnished with very spacious bathrooms. The hotel offers spa treatments along with the use of their sauna, pool and gym. In the morning, they believe in starting it right by serving a good breakfast buffet spread.

Chateau Mere

Taking the name of the nearby town, Chateau Mere was built in 2011 with a special touch from its proprietors. From the main building, where the restaurant is located, you can feel the coziness of a big house decorated with bric-a-bric, as you warm yourself up in the fireplace with couches around it. The chateau is a producer of wines under the name Winiveria where they keep their cellars and qvevris right in the premises too. The rooms are located on top of the main building and in the single tower in front of it where you can stay in circular rooms with great views. In summer, there’s a pool to enjoy while you soak in the sun and the views.

Hotel Old Telavi

Located in the city of Telavi, the capital of Kakheti region, Hotel Old Telavi are located in two buildings, a historical 19th century building and a newer one. The hotel has a restaurant where you can try traditional Georgian cuisine. The rooms are ornately decorated with heavy wooden furniture in rich and dark toned walls. In contrast, the shower boxes are modern and fully-equipped with different functional buttons.

  1. It looks like an authentic destination, Georgia is on my travel list for some time now, hope someday I will get the chance to see at least some of it.
