Short stay: SACO Apartments – St. Martin’s, Covent Garden, London, UK

Sometimes when travelling it’s a pleasant change to simply have time to yourself, without the formalities of a hotel. Whilst I enjoy staying in luxury hotels, the privacy you get from luxury serviced apartments or self-catering accommodation is always a welcome alternative. SACO Apartments have serviced apartments at 160 locations in 44 countries across the world, and I recently had the pleasure of staying at their flagship London property, Covent Garden St. Martin’s, just a short walk from Leicester Square Underground station. The welcome I was met by David, the SACO representative for the property, and shown to apartment. All I’d had to do was give him an approximate time indication of when I expected to arrive, and then phone him a few mins before and he was there to meet me. He kindly gave me a short tour of the accommodation and then left me to settle in. The room I stayed in Apartment 8 on the 5th floor which has a spacious, open-plan, fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and living space. It is brightly furnished SACO Covent Garden apartment kitchen SACO Covent Garden apartment dining area and living space There are three bedrooms (sleeping 6) in the property, one of which can be adjoined or divided from the main living area by a sliding partition. There are plenty of restaurants to be found on the doorstep, including Jamie’s Kitchen and the Indian Dishoo which had a very long queue waiting outside even though it was mid-week. Other nice touches There was a supply of milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice, cereal and biscuits to get me through my first morning. Cost One bedroom properties at SACO Covent Garden – St Martin’s are available from £258 per night. The 3 bedroom superior apartment that I stayed in and that you see here starts from £435 per night. The best bit The property is very well maintained and offers a wonderful amount of space. Although I was away on business, this would also have been the perfect base for me had I been in London with my family. The final verdict Perfect for business travellers and tourists alike. If the former, you’re just a short Tube journey away from the City and, if the latter, it’s an easy to walk to Soho and Chinatown; you are also well-located here to take in a show at London’s West End theatres. Disclosure: My stay was courtesy of SACO Apartments.

  1. Whenever I visit London, Covent Garden is my chosen landing pad. Obviously you’ve got the shops of Covent Garden and some great restaurants in the back streets.

I like to stroll through to TKTS at Leicester Square to pick-up some theatre bargains. These apartments would make the perfect base for our next girls’ get together.

  2. You would have thought that in a city of London’s size that it would be easy to find a base for business but I have struggled to find something suitable at a reasonable cost. From the images and description this place is ideal, meeting all my requirements.

What I like about these larger apartments is that the wife and kids could join me too if work happens to coincide with school holidays.

    1. Hi Ed… yes, this apartment could easily accommodate a family, and of course there are plenty of places of interest for families within easy walking distance or a short tube ride away, not to mention the many open air acts taking place in Covent Garden which can keep the kids entertained for hours!
