Grand Royal Barge Procession

Grand Royal Barge Procession2006 is a year of huge regal significance in Thailand as it’s the 60th anniversary of the accession to the throne by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. To mark this, the country is enjoying a year-long festival of events. One of the most extravagant of these events will be the Grand Royal Barge Procession which takes places tomorrow evening at 7.30pm on Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River.   This promises to be a spectacular display of 52 barges powered by 2,082 men from the Royal Thai Navy… if you’re in the area, make sure you don’t miss it.
