India’s Kullu Valley to get five star ski resort

The peaks of the Himalayas are about to get their first five star ski resort in the mould of those in Vail or Val d’Isere. Indian officials have given their backing to  a $300 million project in the Kullu Valley in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, backed by Alfred Ford, great grandson of auto mobile magnate Henry Ford. The developers want the resort to be up to Olympic standards so that the games might one day be held there. The first skiers are set to hit the slopes in early 2010.
