Banyan Tree heads for Dinaran Island in the Philippines
Banyan Tree‘s first foray into the Philippines will come about through a joint venture with Mr Salvador B Zamora II, a prominent businessman in the mining and real estate industries. Together they will develop and operate two luxury resorts on Dinaran Island. Completion of the projects is slated for 2010, at a combined cost of $70 million. The island is south of Manila in Palawan Province, and is currently uninhabited but will be just 15 minutes by speedboat away from the town of Coron.

I grew up in the Philippines but never had a chance to visit Palawan (gasp!). I’ll be going in 2011 anyway, so I’ll make sure to hit up all the luxe resorts like Banyan Tree and Aman!
Did this project push through? I have been looking for awesome island hotels in Coron and I wish to add this to my list of considerations.
I don’t think it did in the end. Banyan Tree don’t have a presence in the Philippines currently.
