Bucket and spadeVacations are always more fun when there’s a coastline in view, or at least so say Tripadvisor.   They’ve come up with a list outlining their top 10 favourite beachside destinations:
  1. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  2. Honolulu, Hawaii
  3. Cancun, Mexico
  4. Surfer’s Paradise, Australia
  5. Negril, Jamaica
  6. Miami, Florida
  7. Viti Levu, Fiji
  8. Boracay, Philippines
  9. Tenerife, Canary Islands
  10. Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand
What places would be in your top 10 that are not in this list?

  1. Good to see Fiji made it in the list at 7! Some of the best beaches in the world are in the Fiji Islands. Especially in the outer islands such as the Yasawa Islands and the Lau Group in the east of Fiji. Beautiful beaches pristine lagoons!

  2. As a Filipino, I am really proud that our very own Boracay Beaches is included in the list.

Actually Boracay is just one of numerous beautiful beaches we have around Philippines.

    Pinoy Tayo! Proud ako!

  3. I am going to have to add the private beach for the Rayavadee resort at Railay Beach in Thailand. Paul, you should really do an article on this. It is ULTRA lux! (600-10000 per night)

  4. I’m impressed that the Philippines came out and is mentioned here. Being Filipino, I always thought that the rest of the world never appreciated the beauty of the islands and the warmth of its people.

I would agree on having Fiji on the list, but I wouldn’t say Viti Levu would be fantastic. I’d pick the Yasawas and the Mamanuca group of islands to be tops.

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. So many great beaches on the list. Of course a great beach would have crystal clear waters, beautiful trees, sugary white sand and the best accommodations. Haven’t experienced most of the beaches on this list but I can say that the beaches in Asia, especially in the Philippines, offer the most “bang for the buck”. Boracay is great but I think people should know about El Nido. One of the most exquisite beaches in the world. You can Google for the pictures. Just beautiful!

  6. I think a lot of excellent spots, even more impressive than those listed, are out there, its just not that accessible to most of us. Take for example Amanpulo in the Philippines or scattered islets in the Pacific coasts. If its beauty to the bone, thats the place to go.

  7. tenerife? Cancun? Those are only two I’ve been to and they wouldn’t be on my list! The rest of the list sounds very tempting though! I’d add Sardinia too. Good to hear good things about the Rayavadee in Thailand, we were so close to booking that for our honeymoon and I still really fancy it, more so again now!
