  1. it´s funny how travellers sometimes have different opinions in selecting their best luxury hotels. Some of the hotels listed are not that popular in most common luxury listings around the world. However, they´re well known aomngst the travelling community.

  2. I think Tripadvisor sometimes throws up a few surprises in its results because it assesses not only on quality and service, but also on other things like value for money.

Some of the very, very best hotels are often impeccable in almost every respect but might get ‘marked down’ from a user feedback perspective because they might not score as well when it comes to value for money. That’s my suspicion, at least.

  3. I think it is very difficult to narrow the top luxury hotels in Europe to only ten, as especially on this continent, the range of choices is much wider. I would suggest at least a top 50.

  4. Most of the visitors to Luxury Hotels have better things to do than write up reviews in Tripadvisor, so how can it be an accurate yardstick?

  5. That’s a valid point, John. But isn’t it also the case that most visitors to any hotels have other demands on their time that would mean the majority don’t do a Tripadvisor review?

I suppose Tripadvisor can only work with what they have and, whilst many luxury travellers perhaps wouldn’t take time out to do a review, there will always be some that will.
