999 followers on Twitter

Approximately 6 weeks ago, I revealed that I had created an account for this blog on Twitter.   Back then I was highly sceptical about it all but, the more I learn about it, the more I ‘get’ it.   For now, I primarily use that Twitter account for directly posting blog posts via Twitterfeed  but, to my amazement, you are still following in your masses.   In fact, as I type, the number of followers is currently at 999.   So… who’s going to be number 1,000?

  1. Paul, I note that you do now get into the spirit of Twitter and use it to interact with your followers even recommending a few for a #followfriday. Twitter is far more than an RSS feed. There is currently a lot of Tweeple promoting get more followers fast. It is another bubble in the same way the housing bubble was. We all know what will happen next. The key is to be a service to your followers and if you look after them. They will reciprocate.

  2. Hi John

Yes, John, as the months run on, I’ve become increasingly convinced by the potential of Twitter. I have a number of Twitter accounts and unfortunately am unable to devote as much time to this one as I would like due to time constraints, but it’s nice to see the number of followers growing at a healthy rate.

I completely agree with you re: the auto-generated follower scams that you seem to see everywhere. Reminds of the days of traffic exchanges and the like. Sadly, there will probably always be people trying to pedal these kinds of things, but hopefully the majority will see them for what they are.

    Paul
