Down by the riverside in the UK

As many readers will already be aware, I run two travel businesses – one is involved with online marketing for the travel industry and the other is  a luxury self-catering / vacation rental business with accommodation between two of England‘s most beautiful National Parks – the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.  This month, the latter has had a full page feature in a local magazine.  If you would like to read more, you will find the article here.

  1. Thank you, Kay. I can’t say this particular item has generated a great deal of interest just yet, but I suppose it’s early days. These publications have a tendency to linger for longer than you’d imagine. Copies will hopefully be sitting around doctors’, dentists’ and vets’ waiting rooms for many months to come!

  2. Bah! You’ve just reminded me that I have to go to the dentist soon. ;-) Broken tooth… and all the rest.

I also think that these things do tend to linger for a while. I found an ancient newspaper in a bar in Bangkok recently and found some good contacts in it.

The print medium may be a bit not cutting edge any more but they still have an important part to play in spreading the word about anything.

  3. I know what you mean, Kay. It’s generally not an avenue I’d consider with paid advertising, but I see no harm in pursuing free editorial in the printed press. I’ve had a bit of success in this regard with this business, getting a few passing mentions in the national press. It’s resulted in one booking that I’ve been able to clearly track – not a fantastic record, but one booking nonetheless.

  4. Good article – this kind of pr is good for general awareness raising which is harder to track but gives you a better profile and brand recognition. fingers crossed it will generate some good leads for you.

  5. It’s a good write up, great photo and the apartment sounds so nicely furnished. It makes a big difference when you are holidaying at home. Hope all you get lots of interest.
