The world’s most dangerous luxury hotel
Is this the world’s most dangerous luxury hotel right now? Meet the Golf Hotel in Abidjan which is currently home to Alassane Ouattara, the new President of the Ivory Coast (unless you’re speaking to supporters of the incumbent President Laurent Gbagbo, that is). The resort’s website claims the hotel has 306 “nicely decorated” rooms but newspaper reports paint a different picture – a picture that sounds more akin to a warzone. According to the New York Times, the lobby is littered with armed men of various origins – private security guards, rebel soldiers from the north of the country and international troops – and the hotel is surrounded by United Nations tents. By the sounds of it, this isn’t one to add to your wishlist just yet.

That sounds crazy! I have stayed in some dangerous places but if anyone can top that I would be very impressed. Can you actually stay there or is the hotel now soley taken up by the president?
If a hotel is ‘dangerous’ it can no longer be defined as a luxurious hotel by definition.
not sure this is one i want to put on my wish list – think i might just give it a by!

I think the word ‘warzone’ would out-weigh the luxury. You don’t want to just stay in your hotel the whole time, no matter how beautiful it is.
