Top 10 Caribbean wedding tips

So you’ve found that perfect someone, now how about the wedding venue? Destination weddings are a growing luxury travel trend, with the Caribbean leading the way. Before you say ‘I do’ take a look at our top 10 Caribbean wedding tips. 1) A Caribbean Welcome: start your wedding weekend on a fun note with a casual outdoor get together. While the chef grills up a BBQ feast, your guests can mingle over rum punch cocktails. 2) Make It Your Own: crazy about sailing? Plan an afternoon on a chartered boat for you and your friends. Sharing your favourite activities is a great way to include your guests. 3) Take It Outside: make the most of your tropical or beachside setting with an outdoor reception. As the sun goes down just a few simple lights and candles are often all you need. 4) Chill Out: planning a wedding doesn’t need to be stressful, especially when you are working with an experienced villa team. From the flowers to the food, their local knowledge will make planning your wedding a breeze. 5) Schedule Some Downtime: ensure you and your guests stay rested and relaxed by leaving a little room between group activities for everyone to do their own thing. 6) Add a Local Touch: let the setting influence your choice of music, signature cocktail or even your wedding colors. 7) Keep It Simple: with such beautiful surroundings, you’ll need far fewer decorations than in a traditional hall. 8) Ask Around: marriage license requirements vary from island to island. Speak to your concierge or wedding planner for details and avoid any last minute surprises. 9) Capture the Moment: have your photographer arrive early to scout out the best photo opportunities and Caribbean backdrops. 10) Unwind: the best part of planning a Caribbean Wedding is the built-in honeymoon! If you’d like to plan a special surprise for your bride or groom, your concierge can help with that too. Nick Guezen is Project and Integration Director at Luxury Retreats. 1. Being a destination wedding photographer I have one more advice – have a civil ceremony in your home town to get rid of the legal stuff – and then a romantic ceremony at destination.

  2. Yes be very sympathetic to your surroundings. Take all the advice and you’ll find you’ll be more in tune with your wedding day and event. Your guests will appreciate it and remember it well beyond the special day. Agreed with the comment by Robert London. You’ll feel more at ease your’e wedding legal matters are behind you. I’ve been on board and provided entertainment in some wonderful wedding venues where i’ve notice wedding couples far more engaging with their venue once the civil ceremony had been decreed at home. Nicely put.
