Photograph of the week: Château-fort de Feluy, Wallonie, Belgium

This week’s image is of the privately-owned Château-fort de Feluy in Wallonie (French part of Belgium) which has a long history of doing and un-doing since 1380 (when it was built) until 1972 when it was renovated.  It was the perfect setting for Medieval and Renaissance drama; it resisted attacks from the Duc Albert de Saxe in 1489 and was renovated in 1615 by René de Renesse who lived in total luxury on the Florins of the Netherlands king and eventually spent all his assets there.  Prince of Orange was also a guest during the war in Holland in 1674, followed by the Duc of Luxembourg in 1692.
