Luxury bed and breakfast at a Washington winery

ItÂ’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Seattle, WA. Surrounded by water and hundreds of points of interests, you may get lost in the simplicity of just being a tourist. In which case, you would be missing out on one of the most simplistic yet luxurious bed and breakfasts youÂ’ve ever visited. Located off the beaten path, about 30 minutes outside Seattle, Matthews Estate Winery sits unassumingly. There are no large signs proclaiming its existence, which is half of its charm. The bed and breakfast, which can host only two couples at a time, sits at the top of a dirt path behind the wine tasting building, and it is surrounded by trees. The kitchen, living room, dining room, and movie room are shared by all guests, but it is the individual rooms that speak to the true luxury of this little hideaway. The Merlot Room, located on the first floor, boasted a king bed, a walk-in closet, and a shower with both a sauna and dual shower heads. The stone floor in the bathroom was heated, making it that much easier to step out and towel dry. The Syrah Room, located on the second floor, also boasts a King Bed with a full bath located next door to the bedroom. While not as extravagant as the first floor accommodations, it is still a quiet, comfortable getaway. Breakfast was left in the fridge every morning- pastries, fruit, coffee, and juice were the staple items. Additionally all dishes from the prior day were washed and put away while the couples were out of the house. You never once felt as if you were rooming in a hotel, where you run into a housekeeping cart almost every morning or fall asleep to the sounds of the shrieks of children in the room next door. A free bottle of red wine as well as a wine tasting was included with our stay, allowing us to appreciate the land for what it truly was – a winery.
