Today is World Rabies Day

Did you know that today – 28th September – is World Rabies Day?  According to the World Health Organization, rabies is responsible for around 55,000 human deaths every year. It’s fitting therefore that we should know more about the risks that rabies presents and where in the world the risks are greatest (see the WHO rabies map). World Rabies Day aims to raise awareness about and/or prevent the spread of rabies. World Rabies Day Incidents where people come into contact with rabies but are not vaccinated against the virus almost always end in fatality. If you are travelling somewhere, make sure you are aware of the risks. You can learn more about rabies from this video from boonDOCS.
