  1. Some wonderful experiences here. I’d like to point out though that those involving animals aren’t always the most ethical. Working for a charity which focuses on ‘animals in tourism’, I’m aware of the brutal training methods inflicted on elephants before they are used for trekking. Also, animal shows (eg tigers)also use methods that many aren’t comfortable with (hence why animal circuses around the world are being banned).

Thailand is a beautiful country with amazing animals, but we’d request that luxury travellers find ways of enjoying the wildlife, without harming it. Thanks!

  2. My top 3 would be Paradise Park Farm on the top of the biggest mountain in Koh Samui. The animals are very well cared for and all like to be petted, even the emus and the deer!! They have two handraised gibbons who will sit on your lap and love to be cuddled and brushed. My second is Chai Dee Petting Zoo near Big Buddha who must have the only pot belllied petting pig on the island. Also, there is a lovely bar with tame but free birds and a rescued hand raised baby monkey at Bang Khao on the beach. Lovely people. Nice bar and fantastic deserted beach.

  3. Reading through your post just reminds me of how Thailand is blessed with beautiful wildlife. And, looking at the adventurous wildlife options to explore in Koh Samui, this place is indeed worth visiting. Thanks for sharing the lovely post.

  4. This website is awful, promoting elephant rides, tiger shows and the like. Should be shut down. Anyone doing this sort of thing please just remove yourself from earth.

  5. This is really bad advice, you are promoting bad animal practice. You should never go to animal attractions where the animals are forced to behave unnaturally through years of abuse. Please recommend activities which are not awful and unnatural. Never ride elephants or go to tiger shows as you encourage more animal abuse

  6. Animal abuse and misuse is never okay and should NEVER be associated with entertainment nor tourist attractions, especially those aimed at families.
People need to stop participating in these kinds of activities – imagine being manhandled your entire life my strangers, locked in a tiny space unable to move or stretch, do you think that would make you happy?
Koh Samui is a beautiful place to visit. There are so many other beautiful and cruelty free things to do here. Please make more ethical choices. You won’t regret it.
