10 top tips for a day out at Parque de Atracciones de Madrid

Thrill-seekers heading to Madrid will not want to miss Parque de Atracciones which is located in Casa de Campo – once one of the hunting grounds of the Spanish monarchy – just minutes from the city centre. Divided into five main themes – Maquinismo (Machines), Gran Avenida (Main Avenue), Naturaleza (Nature), Tranquilidad (Tranquillity) and Infantile (Kids) – there is something here for everyone, whether you’re seeking high-fuelled adrenaline or something a little more sedate for the younger ones. Parque de Atraciones To get the most from your visit, follow these top 10 tips: 1. Buy your tickets online in order to get the best value and swift entry on arrival. 2. Take the metro – it’s the easiest way to get there. 3. Visit during the week – and, if you can, during school time – as that is when the queues for rides are typically at their shortest. 4. Bring your own provisions and plenty of water to avoid queueing at food outlets. 5. Assuming you have your tickets in advance, arrive when the park first opens as that can also be when queues are at their shortest. 6. Bring a poncho or a spare T-shirt… you will get wet on the water rides! 7. Bring along a disposable or inexpensive compact camera – there are great views of Madrid from some of the rides. 8. If you’re concerned whether your children will be able to go on certain rides, check the height restrictions in advance. 9. Visit the NickelodeonLand Amusement Park – new for 2014. 10. Don’t forget suncream! Parque de Atraciones For more on Madrid, see the inspirational BlogginÂ’ Madrid website.
