Photograph of the week: Hunting Island’s salt marsh at sunset

This salt marsh is part of Hunting Island State Park located on St-Helena Island (Beaufort, South Carolina) at the end of US21 just before you enter the Fripp Island vacation community. It is an excellent place for birding, fishing and crabbing along the Marsh Boardwalk Trail which ends with the fishing pier. This photograph was taken a few minutes before the sun had completely disappeared at the horizon. The low angle point of view just above the boardwalk guides your eyes to the last warm sun spot behind the trees. The last note about this salt marsh is that was used for the Vietnam war scenes in the Forrest Gump film starring Tom Hanks.

I love the Carolinas and this is an exquisite shot. Makes me want some fish & to dangle my feet over the edge. Great shot – it does emit the warmth of a sunset on a June evening.
Thanks for dropping by and commenting, Sophie… lovely picture, isn’t it? :)
