5 green ways to travel around Paris in style

As you will probably have seen, Paris experienced high air pollution levels last week. To avoid this happening again, have a look at these five ways to travel green in Paris. This is a win-win situation – you will be protecting the city’s environment at the same time as having lots of fun. Twiztour In 2012, Renault developed this quirky little electric car, which measures just 2.34m long, 1.24m wide and 1.45m tall, as a two-passenger alternative to scooters. To promote the concept, Twiztours were created, allowing users to rent a Twizy that is equipped with a special GPS Audio Guide that gives comments and stories about the capital. Different tours are available from 1 to 3 hours, day and night. Horse-drawn carriage Setting off from the Eiffel Tower, you can jump aboard a horse-drawn carriage to enjoy Paris at it was years ago. The clip-clop of the horse’s hooves is the most romantic way to discover the city. Historically, horse-drawn carriages have the right to travel everywhere in Paris. Scooter tours You cannot miss the kids in Paris who go everywhere on their scooters, though adults can also be seen enjoying this means of transport. There are guided tours available during which suitable scooters can be rented for the whole family. All safety equipment is of course provided (helmets and knee/elbow protectors). Trottinette Segway If you are looking for something different, enjoying a tour on a Segway would be quite a unique experience. Considering the speeds these stand-up wheeled devices can achieve (12 to 15 kph), a three-hour tour will give you an ideal overview of the city. Tours can be done by day or night, but please note that kids under 12 are not allowed to use them. Walk Of course, the best way to discover Paris is always on foot! This way you can discover the city’s hidden narrow streets and the best shops and bistrots. As Thomas Jefferson said, “a walk about Paris will provide lessons in history, beauty and in the point of Life”. Magali Déchelette is CEO at Family Twist.
