Photograph of the week: King penguins on South Georgia

Louise Miller’s party made their first landing of the day at St Andrews Bay on South Georgia. Hundreds of king penguins covered the shore as far as they could see. Most of the passengers had already headed down the beach towards a glacier to the north. Louise on the other hand was busy photographing them when she noticed that some of the penguins had taken an interest in their landing party. She parked herself in the sand and waited to see what would happen next. Sure enough, a few of the more brave and curious penguins came right up to her. This was the amazing result. Penguin Thank you to Louise Miller of G Adventures for permission to re-produce the image.
