The best alternative activities in Las Vegas

Although Las Vegas is known as a gambling mecca, it is also a city which boasts many other fun activities too. It is a place which caters for any type of traveller, whether you are someone who likes to stay up all night partying or prefer to curl up with a good book. We’ve drawn up a list of the best alternative activities in Las Vegas to enjoy, so your holiday to Sin City will be a truly unforgettable one. Art galleries Although it may come as some surprise, Las Vegas has a surprisingly large arts scene. The Bellagio is home to a prestigious art gallery, featuring work from some of the world’s most celebrated artists. The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art often puts on mesmerising exhibitions, ensuring that visitors receive a fresh experience every time they go there. Also, if you’re a fan of arts and culture, then you will enjoy a visit to the Las Vegas Arts District, where you will find an eclectic mix of art galleries, stores and restaurants. On the first Friday of each month, a “First Friday” festival is celebrated, drawing some 20,000 people into the area to celebrate all arts and culture. Art galleries Take to the air There’s no better way to view Las Vegas than way up in the air! Helicopter tours are both exhilarating and eye-opening, providing some of the most aweing views of the Strip and beyond. Although you can book a helicopter tour of just the Strip, many travellers opt for a tour of the nearby Grand Canyon. Known as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, you can’t help but feel insignificant as you view this incredible landmark from above. Helicopter tour Find the best buffet One of the most popular food options in Las Vegas are its buffets, with many hotels and restaurants offering impressive spreads. Make it your goal to find the best one by sampling as many as you can! The Wynn’s breakfast buffet is particularly popular with locals and tourists alike, and serves everything from a traditional English breakfast to something more continental. Just make sure you don’t scrimp on a cheaper buffet, as you truly get what you pay for at a Las Vegas buffet. Breakfast buffet Visit Fremont Street Fremont Street is known as the ‘old’ Las Vegas, the place where people went to gamble before the Strip took over. Today you can still visit the area’s casinos, as well as explore the local attractions, which include a host of restaurants and stores. Although not quite as glamorous as anything on the Strip, you will feel like you’re experiencing a more authentic Las Vegas on Fremont Street. Freemont Street Prepare for the Apocalypse Pay a visit to the Zombie Apocalypse Store, where you can stock up on anti-zombie supplies before the apocalypse occurs. You just never know when the brain-eaters are going to rise to power, so it’s best to be prepared. The Zombie Apocalypse Store sells first aid kits, knives, stun guns, gas masks and – of course – zombie survival books. 1. Great suggestions. I have been to Las Vegas many times over the years and am still amazed at how much there is to see. I never knew about the Zombie Apocalypse Store. What an unusual site. Another place to see while in Las Vegas could be Hoover Dam.

  2. Hi, I am putting together a trip to Las Vegas for our CEO to celebrate his 62nd birthday. The dates are March 30 – April 2.

I’ve never visited your city so please help me. I’m trying to find some unusual things to do there.

    Money is not an issue.

    Your help is so appreciated!

  3. Love this! Vegas is also a great city for family travel – endless rides, children’s museums, arcades, shows and activities. My five year old still insists Vegas is one of her favourite all-time destinations!

  4. Great alternatives for those of us who don’t like to gamble, but sometimes find themselves in Vegas. Also, lots of places to go hiking in the area like Red Rock Canyon, Mount Charleston, and Lake Mead. Thanks.

  5. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Downtown Container Park as another off the stripe Vegas attraction. Family friendly and the way that the park is supporting small businesses is great.
