China seems to have become known for its crazy bridges. The world’s highest and longest glass-bottomed bridge in Zhangjiajie was famously tested with a sledgehammer prior to its opening in 2016. But, just over 1,000 kilometres to the north, the East Taihang Glasswalk in the eastern mountains of China is equally crazy.
You would think that a glass walkway 3,800 foot up in the mountains would be scary enough. But, to make it extra terrifying, they introduced an element of surprise… making it a glass bridge that cracks! With the help of sensors and an optical illusion, and some accompanying sound effects, this is definitely not one for those who are scared of heights!

OMG!!!! That is SO scary… I don’t think I could venture out on to a bridge like that, even without the effects!
I’m pretty sure that a) most people visiting this walkway know about it before they visit, and b) if they don’t know prior to visiting, I would be surprised if there aren’t plenty of warning signs.
I heard about that bridge and i really want to go one day i love this kind of amazing stuff i really like your blog so perfect.

Oh my word! That is insane! I’m afraid of heights but sometimes I do like to challenge myself and would probably take a couple of steps on this bridge…and die. But seriously, I wouldn’t even try this. The Grand Canyon scared be and that was on solid ground.
I’m so-so with heights. Usually fine if I’m on a man made structure that I trust, but less so if I’m doing something like climbing. I’d give it a try in this instance, I’m pretty sure.

I suspect that first guy is ‘staged’ in all honesty. Seems unlikely that a tour guide leading a party of people wouldn’t a) have visited before, and b) have heard about it.
This seems scary, but is good for adventure, and going out of your comfort zones. Really good for someone who wants to try out something new!
Wow I think I would be freaked out too haha such a crazy effect. That looks like an insane view to take in. I think it adds that you can hear the cracking as well. I bet the first person who went on it was terrified but a great laugh too. You have to be brave to take on those heights for sure.
Haha, that poor guy! This is one thing most people might not appreciate about Chinese people if they don’t know any: they definitely have a sense of humor and they know how to laugh. Where else in the world would you find something like this? China has so many hidden treasures of beauty in nature, this just adds to it in a different way.
