Photograph of the week: L’Ile Rousse beach, Corsica

This is the beach at L’Ile Rousse in la Balagne region of Corsica. With a gently sloping seabed, crystal clear water and the beach itself of soft white sand, it is one of the photographer’s favourite places in Corsica. It stretches from the town where you will find numerous great restaurants, cafés and hotels as well as some lovely holiday villas and apartments. The town square is just across the road where you can sit in a café in the shade of a one hundred year old plane tree and, if you are lucky, watch a game of petanque. If you visit in the morning be sure to check out the covered market selling fresh fruit and vegetables, local honey and mead as well as tasty charcuterie and fresh fish.
