Is the Okavango the best luxury safari location?

Botswana’s Okavango Delta has been drawing in guests and visitors for many years. From the early stages Botswana’s government declared a low impact high income tourism policy which has successfully managed to prevent over crowding in this wondrous and lush Delta – here the game is abundant and the people are not which is what we all want from our luxury safaris. Botswana recently also dedicated it’s entire army to anti poaching – last year they lost just 100 elephants when other parts of Africa lost thousands. There is now a huge initiative moving forward which will see over 100 rhinos relocated from unsafe areas in South Africa to Botswana’s wildlife haven, the Okavango Delta. For all the reasons mentioned above the Okavango Delta comes with a hefty price tag – every safari property is extremely luxurious with huge tented suites, usually with views of a water hole, delta channel or river. The game viewing here is thrilling and exhilarating – you never know what you might see. Everything is so wild that you could spend two game drives seeing nothing, before rounding a corner to find a leopard on a kill, or a pride of lions. This is why safari enthusiasts rave about Botswana, and why people return again and again. Leopard Botswana’s luxury safari camps and lodges are spread far apart so your game viewing is always exclusive and private – you will also have the freedom to walk, ride, canoe, boat or take night drives. The emphasis on a Botswana safari is certainly getting out of the car and this makes for a much better all round luxury safari experience. The guides in Botswana are some of the best in Africa and their knowledge and passion for the wilderness is totally infectious. Mobile camp Botswana’s lodges really get it right – they offer top guides, the best food and extraordinary locations for a larger price than in other parts of Africa, but this has allowed them to keep their areas truly wild, pristine and untouched. The flat Delta is usually lit in the most extraordinary ethereal light and although you might have had to remortgage to get there, you will be sitting watching a dramatically changing sunset, sipping your drink, realizing your Botswana safari has changed you forever.
