  1. It’s never easy making selections of Caribbean hotels. Standards are high and so much depends on what you want.

I speak with experience of other Caribbean islands, where I’ve enjoyed some great stays. As I’ve never been to Jamaica there could be some useful pointers here for me.

  2. Never been to any of the Caribbean islands. Reading this post and taking in all the images I now understand why all my mates never stop rabbiting on about their hols there.

  3. You make a good point about different people wanting different things from a hotel.

Naively, I took a friend’s recommendation on a big Mauritius resort. It had everything, it was certainly more than 5 star and it couldn’t be faulted. The problem was that it was too big and impersonal for us. That experience taught us that we’re boutique hotel guests at heart.

  4. Part of Jamaica’s big attraction for us was the James Bond and Jimmi Hendrix legacy. I expect that for my generation those two will a remain a big draw.

  5. I’m thinking of going to Jamaica later this year. Is it best to book directly with the hotels in question?
