I think a little (read: a lot) of travel inspiration is never a bad idea.
I’ve never skied as I don’t think that my knees, damaged by too many squash injuries, would last for more than 5 minutes. Though reading this makes me think that I have been missing out on some of the great winter wonderlands. It’s time that I considered some icy travels as I could cope with some wintry walks.

But there’s nothing lovelier than walking in the brisk Winter air – ’tis the most wonderful time of the year after all. :)
Travel is like politics, things change rapidly. Unfortunately with the amount of seismic activity that Iceland is recording, now isn’t the right time to be heading for a bathe in a geothermal pool!
Japan is very loose to the top of my travel ambitions list. Until I read this I’d never thought of a winter visit and I knew nothing at all of the Sapporo Snow Festival. The combo of ice sculptures and local food is absolutely irresistible.
Salzburg with its medieval architecture is always magical, especially with its Mozart and Sound of Music heritage. I’ve never visited in winter when it’s snow dusted and probably even more striking.
Munich wins on being Christmassy but is that enough? The rest of the year you’ve got to give Berlin the edge when it comes to German cities. It’s got so much history and when it snows its grand architecture looks as attractive as ever.
