London's South Bank to get new luxury hotel by 2010

The County Hall Island Block – a detested London eyesore nearly Waterloo station and named Britain’s 11th ugliest building in a recent Channel 4 programme – is at last to be knocked down. It will make way for a 14-storey, £300m luxury hotel: the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza. The new hotel will offer views towards Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament but is not expected to be completed until 2010.
