£100...? For a sandwich?!

Cliveden House kitchenThe Cliveden House Hotel  near London’s Heathrow Airport has created a very expensive sandwich, with visitors asked to cough up £100 for the treat. So… what do you get in a £100 sandwich? It comes complete with Iberico ham, air-cured for 30 months, poulet de Bresse, quail eggs, semi-dried Italian tomatoes, 24-hour fermented sour dough bread and white truffles.

A number of people are said to have already tried the 1,182-calorie sandwich and the hotel is extremely proud of its achievement. Tim Pettifer, Cliveden’s general manager, told the Maidenhead Advertiser:

We are absolutely delighted with the response and have received some excellent feedback from guests who have tried it. It is an absolute must for serious gastronomes and contains some of the world’s very finest ingredients.
