Luxury tax in Sardinia

The President of Sardinia has succeeded in passing luxury taxes on the island’s second homes, private yachts, aircraft and hotel rooms. Naturally, it’s been opposed by the wealthy but also by local businesses who fear that visitors might be driven elsewhere.   You can read more about the furore in this article courtesy of The Times.   What’s your take on it?
