Underwater hotel in Dubai

In Dubai it seems everything is possible and one of the latest projects is an underwater hotel known as the Water Discus Hotel. The hotel comprises two discs – an underwater and above-water one. This combination will allow guests to admire the depths of the ocean while making the most of the warm climate. The two parts of the structure are connected by five solid legs and a vertical shaft containing a lift and stairway. The size of each disc has been adjusted to local conditions. 1. In my opinion tris is a great idea, but as soon as I’ve been there I’ve to say that it is more suitable for the Caribbean Sea… in Dubai the bottom of the sea is just plain sand!!!! I guess with money you can do everything you want….

  2. This is really fantastic!! Everything is possible when you have so much money. I would love to book a room there. Is that water really that clean!?

  3. Seems like the will to give guests the opportunity to stay under water during their holiday is getting bigger and broader. Heard about other projects similar to this. Would love to stay in one of the hotels! When is this planned to be done?

  4. Having just seen the last Star Trek movie…your post reminded me of it! Looks kind of surreal.
Worthy post to feature in my buzz column, thanks!

  5. I live in Dubai and this hotel has not been officially launched yet! It was mentioned before the crash in 2008 and then nothing happened and it has been in the papers again but nothing actually confirmed. Projects such as this are often talked about, whether they happen or not remains to be seen. No, the water is not that clear and no, we do not have that many fish!

  6. correct- I also live in Dubai and publications of that sort always put a smile on my face because people like reading about the impossible ! such projects are only on the drawing board nothing else …. Well, at least for now. But even if, we do not have the corals nor the fish ….

  7. At first it is a great idea full of imagination and creativity, but then you realize it is also the best one to throw money away whilst this money could be used for much more important cases, such as the underpaid workers who are brutalised by those specific countries.
